Colonie – Phyllis Peabody Strube, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the Teresian House.

Phyllis, born in Sanford, Maine, was the daughter of the late Frank P. Peabody Sr. and Mildred Thorson Peabody. She moved to Albany in 1946, graduated from Albany High School in 1948, and Albany Business College in 1949. After graduating from ABC, Phyllis worked for the FBI. On November 18, 1950, Phyllis married Paul W. Strube. In 1951 she joined her husband in Germany, where he was stationed during the Korean War. Upon Paul's discharge, they moved to Colonie in January, 1953.

Phyllis was very active in the South Colonie PTA from 1958 to 1975. She was a charter member of The Community Reformed Church of Colonie. Phyllis was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Colonie Elks Lodge 2192. She worked as a Legal Secretary for 23 years for the law firms of Littlefield & Bogdan, then McNamee, Lochner, Titus, & Williams, retiring in 1990. Phyllis played a key role in helping organize, and loved attending, her Albany High School Class Reunions. She loved vacationing with her husband, and spending time with her family and friends at their summer home on the Great Sacandaga Lake.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Paul W. Strube, in February, 2009 and her brother, Frank P. Peabody Jr. in July, 2009. She is survived by her sons, Ken Strube and his wife, Jo-Ann, of Albany and Mark Strube and his wife, Christine, of Troy; her daughter, Barbara Donahue and her husband, Mark, of Ballston Spa; six grandchildren, Joseph Strube, Franklin Strube, Shannon Donahue, Meghan Strube Barker (Aaron), Jordan Strube, and Lauren Plasencia (Gary); two great grandchildren, Evan David Plasencia and Cora Elizabeth Plasencia; her sister, Barbara DeBevoise, and her husband John (Jack), of Clifton Park. Phyllis is also survived by seven nieces and one nephew.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staffs at both Diamond Ridge in Troy and the Teresian House in Colonie for the outstanding care given to Phyllis.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Friday, September 30, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at Memory's Garden in Colonie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Reformed Church of Colonie, 701 Sand Creek Road, Albany, NY 12205; Victorious Life Christian Church, 1838 5th Avenue, Troy, NY 12180; or VCA Shaker Animal Hospital, 223 Maxwell Road, Latham, NY 12210.
