Phyllis M. Pfeiffenberger, 82, of Colonie, passed away on January 24, 2012. She was born on February 10, 1929 in Pottsville, PA. to Philip and Catherine Rosenberger. Phyllis graduated from Pottsville Catholic High School (Nativity) in 1946. She married Robert H. Pfeiffenberger on August 25, 1951. She worked as a telephone operator for AT&T. Phyllis and Robert moved to Colonie in 1954. She worked for the South Colonie Central Schools, first at Maywood Elementary and then as kitchen manager at Lisha Kill School from 1974 until she retired. Her husband Robert died in 1980 and Phyllis continued to work and raise her family on her own. She was a member of St. Clare's Church since 1954 where she used her training as an opera singer in the choir and the funeral choir. She was a member of St. Clare's seniors' group where she enjoyed the company of good friends. She enjoyed gardening, reading, crocheting, politics, crosswords, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, the Giants, sports and singing. She was a strong woman who raised six children and thoroughly enjoyed her home, her children and her grandchildren. She is survived by her son Robert (Karen) of Hollis,ME, her son Phil (Judy) of Colonie, her son Gregory (Jill) of Charlotte, NC, her daughter Catherine (Matthew) Clements of Cornwall, CT, her son Martin (Kim) of Guilderland, NY and her daughter Michelle (Mark) Cuthbertson of Huntington, NY. She is survived by 12 loving grandchildren: Bobby (Lindsey), Laura, Andy (Jackie), Tim, Katie, Cory (Lindsay), Nick, Brittany, Chase, Hunter, Elizabeth, and Aidan and one great-grandchild, Jackson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and three sisters and a brother, Catherine Bambrick, Mary Francis Kerwin (Bob), Elaine Schultz and Leo (Betty) Rosenberger and was pre-deceased by her sister, Imelda Pfeiffenberger. Friends may call at the Newcomer Canon Funeral Home at 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Sunday, January 29th from 4 to 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday January 30th at 9:00am at St. Clare's Church, Colonie. Internment will follow the Mass at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Schenectady.
