Phyllis (Bella) Jonas Newman completed a long and full life on June 14, 2014. She was born on the 19th of September, 1921 as the youngest of seven children, of whom one sibling, her sister Gladys Danoff, survives her, along with many nieces and nephews who cherished their Aunt Phyllis.
She and her husband John Newman raised their family in Flushing, NY and moved to the Albany area in 1970. John, who shared her journey for 57 eventful years, passed in 1998. Her strong will and loving heart kept her going for another 16 years. She made many new friends at the Beverwyck retirement community, where she lived for the past few years.
Phyllis was the proud mother of three sons, Richard Newman (married to Joyce Meyer Newman), Kenneth Newman (married to Ellen Ross) and Robert Newman (married to Linda Restivo Newman); grandmother to Wendi Rachel Newman and to Rebecca Newman Wrobel, and great-grandmother to Zachary Alexander Wrobel.
Her warm, outgoing personality kept her at the center of a far-flung network of family, and friends from far and near, who now celebrate the distinctive stamp that she left upon this world. She will be much missed.
