Colonie – Phyllis Greisler, 68, passed away Monday January 3, 2011 at Albany Medical Center Hospital surrounded by her family.
Phyllis was born in Schenectady, daughter of the late Sanford and Mary (Dressel) Smith, and was a lifelong area resident. Before becoming a homemaker she worked for General Electric as a computer programmer, one of the first in her field. She also worked for WRGB and was the Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Parole Board. Phyllis was a graduate of Burnt Hills High School and Schenectady County Community College. She was a master quilter and enjoyed decorating, travelling and spending time at Peck Lake. She was very actively involved in her daughters' schools, while growing up, and will be lovingly remembered for her infectious sense of humor.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 40 years The Honorable Nicholas Greisler, daughters Susan (Jeffrey) Collins and Gretchen (Lawrence) Greisler-Corbett, grandsons Jackson and Nicholas Collins.
The funeral service will be Saturday 5:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you make a donation, in her memory, to the Vascular ICU at Albany Medical Center.
