Raffaele G. Giovannone

Raffaele "Ralph" G. Giovannone, 77, husband to Geraldine Giovannone, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. 

Born in Naples, Italy, on March 24, 1947, he was the son of the late Alfonso and Luisa (Barbone) Giovannone. At the age of 16, he moved from Naples to Albany.

Raffaele served in Vietnam for the U.S. Army during the war. He later worked as a mason and retired from SUNY Albany where he worked for over 20 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed going for long walks around his neighborhood and playing with his two grandchildren. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine, of 51 years, his daughter Linda Herald and her husband, Christopher, and grandchildren, James and Evelyn Herald. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Judith Giovannone, and several nieces and nephews, locally and in Italy. 

He was predeceased by his siblings, Andrew Giovannone, Jeanine Mondillo, Fortunato Colamarco, Albina Nuzzi, and Franco Colamarco.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Monday, December 23, 2024, from 10:00am - 11:45am with a Funeral Service to begin at 11:45am, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205. Burial will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY 12871.
