Raffaeli Sedgwick

SCHENECTADY- Raffeali (Lena) T. Sedgwick, 90, of Schenectady, passed away on Wednesday May 13, 2009 at Kingsway Manor.
She was born in West Albany and was the daughter of the late Raphael and Margaret (Donato) Ronchi. Lena had worked for Tobin Packing Company and at Macy's Department Store. She was active with St. Paul's Church Rosary Society, a member and past officer of the St. Paul's Senior Citizens and a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards, cooking and baking. Lena was involved in numerous charitable works for many years. She was honored as the St. Paul Rosary Society's Orchid Lady in 2001.
Lena was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, Martin (Cas) Sedgwick. She is the devoted mother of Margaret C. Mitchell (late John) of Schenectady, Cas Sedgwick of Fayetteville, NY, Robert F. Sedgwick of N. Quincy, MA and Christina (Jim) Burton of Cicero, NY. She is the sister of the late Mary Denison, Angelina Gizzi, Joseph Marino, Charles Marino and Frank Marino. Grandmother of David, Craig and Brian Mitchell, Peter and Ashley Sedgwick and Aaron and Leia Burton. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and 9 nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Paul the Apostle Church. Interment will follow in Memory's Garden. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308 in memory of Raffaeli (Lena) Sedgwick.
