GUILDERLAND – Ralph D. Green, Jr., 85, formerly of Syosset, NY, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011 at St. Peter's Hospital. He was born in Syosset where he lived for most of his adult life. Ralph was a World War II Navy veteran in the V12 Program, serving aboard the USS Roosevelt. He attended Dartmouth University and Graduated from Colgate University in 1948. Ralph was named an All American soccer player, playing varsity soccer for both Dartmouth and Colgate. He was an avid tennis player and also tried out for the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team. Ralph later earned his Master's Degree and taught fifth and sixth grade for many years in the Syosset Central School District. He was a life time member of Syosset Community Church. Ralph is the husband of Barbara H. (Nagle) Green. He is the brother of Alice DelBosco. Also surviving are five stepchildren, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, six nieces and nephews and also grand nieces and nephews. Ralph was predeceased by his first wife, Peggy (Pieri) Green and his brother, George Green.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Beney Funeral Home, 79 Berry Hill Road, Syosset, NY 11791 with a funeral service and interment to follow.
