LOUDONVILLE- Ralph Joseph Lauro Scorza passed away peacefully Tuesday February 19, 2008 at Albany Memorial Hospital. He was the son of his late beloved father Basile Lauro and Mother Josephine Fillipelli from Calabria Italy. Ralph resided in Waterbury, CT and Yonkers, NY during his youth and early adult life.
He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. His last mission was aboard the LST 311 during the Sicilian Invasion. Ralph was a self employed contractor for over 50 years moving north to run his business. He was still working as he entered eternal life with his Lord.
Ralph was a member of the Small Business Association, Republican Task Force and former President of Schenectady Press Bowling Association. He served many years as head usher for Pastor Charles Gay at Trinity Christian Church. Ralph's mission in life was to bring laughter, compassion and love to all that knew him.
He leaves to mourn his trusting best friend, eternal soul mate and wife of more than thirty years, Charlotte Scorza; loving and devoted proud father to the love of his life Randy Justus Scorza; his beloved daughters Rosemarie Scorza and JoAnn Scorza; his beloved sons, Ralph Scorza Jr. and Greg Scorza; his daughter in law Betty Scorza; his beloved sister Fay Amicucci; his adored grandchildren Joey Scorza, Jason Cook Renatta Scorza and Maria Cook; his loving great grandchildren, Justin and Alana Cook. He also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition his leaves his beloved extended family and adopted family; Louis and Camile Lauro, Ken and Carol Lauro, his loving and trusting adopted son, Anthony Cannistraci and his wife Patti, Sebastian Cannistraci, Christine Davis, Tom and Marlene VanZandt, Bob and Lori Borden, Sharon Sumner and Charles VanZandt. Ralph is predeceased by his sisters Mary Daginella and Sarah Pannoni; his brothers, Salvatore and Frank Scorza, Jack Maiaro, Joey and Louis Lauro.
Ralph enters into eternal life leaving an amazing legacy. His self pride, his endurance, his wonderful laughter, kindness and compassion for life and people, will live in our hearts for a lifetime.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 10:00 at Roessleville Presbyterian Church, N. Elmhurst Ave. Colonie. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 6 pm at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Memorys Garden. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 in memory of Ralph J. Scorza.
