Ralph Leizer, age 85 of Guilderland, NY passed away peacefully at home Sunday, July 17, 2022. He was born in Albany, NY. He is the son of the late Mary and William Leizer.
Ralph graduated from Albany High School and continued his education by graduating from the NYS University at Albany. He was a high school math and computer teacher at South Colonie High School for 31 years, and also 1 year at Spring Valley. He retired from teaching at age 55. He continued to work part time for the NYS Department of Civil Service, administering New York State Civil Service exams for about 60 years, and well into his 80's.
Ralph was married to his high school sweetheart Marion for 60 years. They enjoyed yearly summer vacations camping with their 3 children, and in retirement they traveled all over the world, all 7 continents. Traveling by motorhome 4 times across the USA they visited the contiguous 48 states. Then by cruising, they added the last 2 states. Their cruises also took them 3 ½ times around the world. Ralph enjoyed seeing and learning about the many cultures throughout the world, and he found beauty in the Earth's scenery.
Ralph found it very important to recycle and reuse anything and everything as much as possible. He believed this was a good use of his resources. He also made a point most every day to continuously study and invest in the stock market. This included listening to stock market programs on the radio most every day. He found listening to these investment conversations to be relaxing and important, teaching his family the importance of saving.
Ralph was known to be quiet, and kind. Always very proud of his family and enjoyed extended family large gatherings for many and all occasions. Ralph made it known that one of the reasons he married Marion was because he loved her large family, to add to his own beloved family. He was quick to teach his children and grandchildren to listen and help others. He would help anyone, anytime.
Ralph leaves behind his wife Marion, son Darrin (Angela) Leizer, daughters Wendy (James Jr.) Liotta, and Darcianne Leizer, 7 grandchildren; Kathryn, Kristine, Sierra, Brian, Dylan, Anthony and Alissa, and two sisters Dorothy (Sherman) Dawson, and Charlote (Wayne) Moul.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road (Route 155), Colonie, Tuesday, July 26th, from 10-11:00am with service to follow. Interment then at Memorial Gardens, Albany NY.
