SCHENECTADY – Ralph Michael Greeley, 67, passed away on Sunday, December 02, 2012 at the Stratton VA Medical Center. Born in Mt. Vernon, NY, he was the son of Joseph Greeley and the late Helen Greeley.
Ralph served in the United States Air Force. He was a teacher in Oneonta for around six years. Ralph enjoyed tutoring Bishop Gibbons High School students. He was a member of the Reading Club at Woodlawn Library. Ralph loved reading, sports, traveling in Europe, movies and taking walks with his canine companion, Pepe. Although becoming a quadriplegic at the age of 30, Ralph always kept a positive attitude and was an inspiration to everyone he met. He enjoyed life to the fullest. Ralph truly loved God and God was his strength through his journey.
Along with his mother, Ralph was predeceased by his sister Judith Greeley.
He is survived by his loving wife Eugenia Luna; four-legged son Pepe; sisters Celia Rabel and Nancy Riker; one uncle; best friend Jim Carll; ten nieces, four nephews; two great-nieces and seven great nephews.
A special thanks goes to a friend and doctor, Roberta Miller, and the ICU staff at the VA Hospital. Great appreciation also goes to Dr. Scherzer and Dr. Carlin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 am at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany Street, Schenectady. Calling hours will precede the Mass from 9:00 to 11:00 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to The Ralph M. Greeley Memorial Fund in care of Key Bank in Ralph's name.
