Albany- Ralph L. Poulopoulos, 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at his home with his loving family by his side. Ralph was the devoted husband to Marion Poulopoulos. In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by his son, Chris Poulopoulos (Kim Conboy). He was lovingly known as Gramps to Alexandra and Adrian.
Ralph and Marion were longtime residents of downtown Albany. If you lived in Hudson/Park or Center Square, walked to work at the state, or stopped in a local bar you probably knew Ralph. He was the Mayor of Madison Ave who unselfishly kept the block trash free, planted flowers everywhere, and helped neighbors with their garden, house or anything they needed. His outreach went beyond Madison Ave and he always was willing to help family, friends, co-workers and even strangers. He never asked for anything in return, but most knew a case of Budweiser was thanks enough.
Although busy, he still found time to work on the "Poulopoulos Oasis", one the most interesting and beautiful backyards in downtown. Over the years he spent much time volunteering for various organizations. He was on the Albany PAL Board of Directors helping with Capital Lights in the Park and PAL toy drive. He also volunteered with the City of Albany gardeners and Oakwood cemetery.
Ralph made everyone feel like they were his best friend. His stories, sarcasm and work ethic live on with those he knew well.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, New York 12205 on Monday, April 3, 2023 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
