ROTTERDAM, NY – Ralph T. Purdy passed away on Friday, November 16, 2007. He was born in Hudson Falls, NY on January 23, 1933 and was the son of the late Claude and Sadie Purdy. Mr. Purdy retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of SFC-E7, after serving 23 years. He served in Germany from 1951 through 1953 and in Korean from 1960 through 1963. He served with the National Guard from 1976 through 1993. Ralph was a Federal Technician at the Schenectady Armory from where he retired. He was a past Master Mason and a member of both the Uncle Sam Stamp Club of Troy and the Schenectady Stamp Club. Ralph was a talented woodworker and will always be remembered as a "Jack of All Trades." He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years, the late Linda I. Purdy. Ralph is the devoted father of Gilbert Purdy of Lakeworth, FL, Jeffrey (Victoria) Purdy of Mechanicsville, VA, Kathleen Hill of Albany and Mari-Lynn (Brian) Osburn of Quinton, VA. He is the loving brother of Marie Pelletier of Scotia, Claudia (Joseph) LaPlant of Gansevoort and the late Gilbert and Floyd Purdy. Ralph is the grandfather of Paul Engel, IV of Albany, Rachel (Jason) Scott of Rochester and Cheri Jones of Schenectady. He is the brother-in-law of Mary Heise of Guilderland. Also surviving is a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 10:00 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will follow in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
