ALBANY - Ralph Y. Dorsey "Dutch", 88, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013 at home surrounded by his family, after a brief illness.
He was born, raised and educated in Albany, NY. In November 1942, he joined the United States Navy where he proudly served until January 1946. He was employed by the State of New York for 30 years as a Supervisor for the Office of General Services. He also worked a short time at KILLIP's Laundry in Albany's South End.
Dutch is survived by his children Angelo, Lorraine, Ralph, Joe, Susie, Dolores, Will and Leah. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister Carlene and a host of nieces and nephews. He has been predeceased by his beloved wife, Mattie, daughter Shirley, sister Shirley and grandchildren Jamal Dorsey and Niyonu Kahn.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 4th, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at Mother Teresa's Community Church, located at 74 Second Ave, Albany, NY 12202.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11am, with interment to follow at Graceland Cemetery.
