COLONIE - Ransome R. Michasiow, 66, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, surrounded by his loving family.
Ransome was born on January 21, 1948 in Troy and was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Aiardo) Michasiow. He was a graduate of LaSalle Institute in Troy and Hudson Valley Community College. He worked for over 30 years for New York State, most of those years as a computer programmer for the Department of Social Services, retiring in 2003. He had many hobbies and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, swap meets, vacationing with family but most of all he enjoyed spending time and helping his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Train Collectors Association, Toy Train Collectors Society and the NRA.
Ransome is survived by his loving children, Jennifer (Brian) of Knox, Audrey (Brandon) of Colonie, John (Jenn) of Summit and Russell (Emmie) of Summit; his brother, Joseph (Bonnie) Michasiow of Watervliet; his sister, Deborah (Mike) Bethel of Bomossen, VT; his cherished grandchildren, David Michael, Taylor, Joshua, Vanessa, Kale and Alaina; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Joan Grant and his brother, Allan Michasiow.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Clare's Church, 1947 Central Ave., Colonie. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Watervliet.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Ransome R. Michasiow.
