Ray Capers

April 15, 1956 — May 23, 2014

Schenectady – Ray M. Capers, 58, passed away on Friday May 23, 2014 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn, he is the son of the late Gertrude and Major Capers Sr.

Ray proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army. He then continued his career as a civilian, working as a computer analyst at The Watervliet Arsenal before retiring due to his illness. Ray also served two tours in Afghanistan as a civilian administrator. He loved to mentor young people and encouraged them to stay on the right path in life. Ray will be sorely missed by his family, but his infectious laugh will always be remembered.

Ray is survived by his siblings, Patricia Green, Kathleen Capers and Major (Audrey) Capers Jr.; and his nephew Major Ezetus Capers.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Ray's name to the American Lung Association, 155 Washington Ave. Albany, NY 12210.

Calling hours for Ray will be Thursday May 29th from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Burial will be at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
