TROY – Raymond A. Bell, 65, was called to be with God at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in East Orange, NJ and was the son of the late John Forest Bell and Mable Davis Bell. Raymond was a graduate of Troy High School and served in the US Coast Guard. He graduated from Liberty School of claims adjusting. Ray was employed by NYS fire rating organization, Rensselaer County Family Support Division and he retired from the Rensselaer County Juvenile Services in 1999. He was inducted into the Troy High School Hall of Fame. Ray was twice commander of the Wm. Dickerson VFW Post # 8758 and a member of Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge #25 and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #75.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Rita Bell; his daughter Alexis (Henry) Everett of Troy and his son Brenden J. Bell of Brooklyn. He is the grandfather of Nevaeh-Rone and A'nyra Lee. Brother of John Forest (Alicia) Bell Jr. of San Diego, CA. He is the cousin of Elizabeth Hebert of Suitland, MD. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Friday morning at 11:00 at Bethel Baptist Church, 5th Ave Troy. Calling hours will be Friday morning from 9 to 11 at the church. Interment will follow the service at Saratoga National VA Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd. Rensselaer, NY 12144 in memory of Raymond A. Bell.
