SARANAC LAKE – Raymond A. Urban, passed away peacefully in Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at his home in Saranac Lake, NY. Born in Albany on September 10, 1934, he was the son of the late Vincent Urban and Julia (Rianka) Urban. Upon graduation from Albany High School, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served during the Korean War. Ray worked for Niagara Mohawk for thirty-five years before he retired. After retirement, Ray permanently resided in Saranac Lake. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the Adirondacks. Ray was a conservationist and his hobby was woodworking. He was a member of the North Albany American Legion Post #1620 for twenty-four years.
In addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by his brothers, Alexander, Stanley and Vincent.
Ray is the brother-in-law of Virginia (Colonno) Urban of Albany and the uncle of Vincent David Urban of Marshfield, MA. He is the great-uncle of Kristin (Guerre) Urban of Albany and the great-great uncle of Ana Guerre.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany. A calling hour will be on Saturday, January 5, 2013 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Adirondack Health Foundation, Attention: Respiratory Therapy, P.O. Box 120, Saranac Lake, NY 12983 in memory of Raymond A. Urban.
