Raymond Clarke Brooks

May 14, 1942 — January 18, 2022

On January 18, 2022, Ray Brooks, 'senior American citizen', husband and father of 3, passed away at the age of 79.

This self-made man, constantly indebted to his creator, was a legend in the airline insurance industry prior to leaving his mark upon the retail world of Saratoga Springs.

The international man of mystery made homes for himself in London, New York, Manila, Saratoga Springs and finally Clifton Park. Through his quick wit, his irreverent jokes, and his inability to take anything too seriously, this 'man of the people' connected easily with everyone and made home wherever he landed.

The fair weathered Buddhist had many interests throughout his life, including, but certainly not limited to, reading, crossword puzzles, finding the perfect Black and Tan, writing memoirs, acting in local theatre, late night karaoke followed by a one and go, and adventuring with his kids.

The flying colonel will best be remembered for his ability to find, or create, a humorous story in everything; from his career, to his relationships, to his furnishings, there was a story or a song, sung loud and without care, for it all.

Ray is survived by his sister, Linda, his wife, Rachel, his 3 children, Alexander, Katherine, and Camilla, his stepson, Joseph, and his 8 grandchildren, William, Archie, Matthew, Isabella, Charlie, Oliver, Owen and Oscar.

His celebration of life will be held in the spring.
