LATHAM - Raymond D. Beaudette, aged 85 years, passed away on December 5, 2011, at the Glendale Nursing Home in Scotia. He was born August 30, 1926, in Albany, son of the late Joseph (Sr.) and Mary Beaudette.
Ray attended Albany public schools and received his Bachelors degree from the State University of New York after military service. Having enlisted in the US Navy at seventeen, Seaman First Class, he served in the Atlantic and Mediterranean Theaters during the war and was part of the original crew of the aircraft carrier USS Antietam (CV-36), which later deployed to the Pacific. Ray was always proud to enlighten the listener that his mother's family was present at Antietam with the Army of the Potomac on that day of September 17, 1862. He can now rest knowing he also gave his measure.
He worked many years in the furniture business, including a number of years at John B. Hauf furniture in Albany. Ray was also active in Rotary, Knights of Columbus, Elks and the American Legion. He was devotee to reading and lifelong learning. Ray's physical passion was golf.
Married on November 12, 1950, to Mildred (Hinman) Beaudette, who survives him, he is also survived by three sons: Daniel and wife Nancy of MA; Jeffrey of Latham; Mark and wife Debbie of Cohoes; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; and brother Joseph (Jr.) of Loudonville.
A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11:30 AM at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Inurment will be in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
