Albany – Raymond E. Hoffman, Sr., 88, passed away Saturday November 8, 2008 at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Raymond was born is Ravena a son to the late George and Nellie (Footett) Hoffman and was a lifelong area resident. He proudly served in the US Army during WW II. Raymond worked for NY Central Railroad out of Selkirk until the early sixties when he began his career with US Postal Service where he worked for over twenty years. He was a very active member of his church, taught Sunday School and Bible studies, a member of Full Gospel Business Man's Fellowship and a long standing member of a church dart league. He was predeceased by his wife of more than fifty years E. Virginia (Mitchell) Hoffman, his brother John Hoffman and his sister Marguerite Swarthout.
He is survived by his children; Sharon (Eric) Schreifels, Raymond (Linda) Hoffman, Jr. and Frank ( Beatrice) Essien, his grandchildren; A. Frances Lougee, Daniel Lougee, Sarah Davis, Jeremy Hoffman, Shannon Hoffman, Jameson, Hoffman, Kemise Essien, Elaine Essien and William Essien; and his great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Emily Lougee.
The funeral service will be held Thursday 10:00am at Emmaus United Methodist Church 715 Morris St., Albany. Calling hours will be Wednesday 5:00 to 8:00pm at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.). Interment will be at Vale Cemetery, Schenectady.
