Raymond Mario Farina (Ray) 96, entered eternal life on Friday, December 22. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years, Louise, who passed on March 8 of this year. They will continue to celebrate Christmas in heaven united as husband and wife.
Ray served in the Navy from February 23, 1945 and was discharged on July 20, 1946. After which he proudly worked for GE as a turbine tester for 35 years. He walked pretty much every day back and forth from his home in Hungry Hill, Schenectady to the GE Plant in Downtown, Schenectady, where he worked second shift.
He was an avid golfer and played the game every chance he could. Ray and Louise were fortunate to be able to travel to the Caribbean Islands, Puerto Rico, Cross Country, Disney World, Las Vegas and many other places. They both enjoyed annual trips to the Cape with their entire family.
Ray was born on April 7, 1927 in Schenectady to Michael and Julia Farina. Ray held his family close and was the very proud father of his children, Raymond Farina (JoAnn), Susan Chase and Lisa (Gary) Kendall and of his grandchildren, Ryan Chase (Loren Loiacono), Michelle Chase (Sean Smith) Rachel Farina, and Jason Kendall.
He was thrilled to become a great grandfather to Emma Louise and Chase Arthur Smith.
Ray is also survived by his sister Doris Clancy, sister in law, Joanne Farina, his brother in law Alfred Riccio, and 7 nieces/nephews.
A private service will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Saturday, January 27 at 10am followed by a private burial at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Glenville.
