GUILDERLAND – Raymond G. Hilton, 86, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at The Hospice Inn at St, Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Raymond was born on July 1, 1925 in Pittsfield, MA and was the son of the late Clarence and Mary (Carey) Hilton. He served in the US Navy during WWII from 1943 to 1945. He was a camera man for WRGB for over 40 years, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed camping, traveling, making carousel horses, and spending time with his family – especially his grandchildren. He was also an avid fan of the Albany River Rats.
Raymond is survived by his devoted daughter, Debbie (Don) Frederick of Voorheesville; his cherished grandchildren, Kristen (Jeff) Ruby and Jeffrey Frederick (Katie MacIntosh); his beloved dog, Nikki; his brother, Herman Hilton and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, Ruth J. (Almy) Hilton; his brothers, Clarence Jr., Leo, Richard, Jimmy, Bobby, Charlie and Leslie Hilton; and his sister, Ethel Freeman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Community Caregivers, Community Hospice of Albany – especially the nurses at The Hospice Inn and to the Town of New Scotland Senior Services for the care and comfort they gave to Raymond and a special thank you to Jeffrey Gifford.
