ALBANY – Raymond J. Haupt passed away peacefully under the care of hospice at the Veteran's Hospital in Albany on Friday, June 22, 2012. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Raymond A. and Lillian Haupt and resided in Albany for all of his life. Ray was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country during the Korean War. He was a life member of the American Legion Zaloga Post and a member of the Polish American Citizens Club. His second home was the Adirondacks. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time at Union Falls. Ray loved life and especially loved spending time with his family.
He is the beloved husband of sixty one years to Joyce (Miller) Haupt. He is the devoted father of Diane (Kevin) McDonald, Raymond W. (Michele) Haupt and Paul A. (Christina) Haupt. Ray is the loving brother of Dolores Califano and David W. Haupt. He is the cherished grandfather of Jenine, Carrie, Kristen, Tracy, Raymond E., Paul J. and Andrew. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Oncology Clinic, Dr. Nedhi, the hospice staff and Dr. Phillips for their compassionate care.
Funeral services will be Monday at 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be on Thursday at 12:00 noon in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the V.A. Hospital, c/o Hospice Unit, 113 Holland Ave., Albany, NY 12208 in memory of Raymond J. Haupt.
