SCHENECTADY – Raymond J. Kirsten, 51, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Ellis hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, he was the son of Gary and Janet Kirsten of Keansburg, NJ.
Ray served in the United States Navy. He was a carpenter with the College of St. Rose for 15 years. Ray enjoyed carpentry, hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Ray will be missed by his loving wife of 33 years, Mary Elizabeth (Nagy); children Briana (Matthew) Marrota of Schenectady, Sarah (Michael) Nimmer of Greensboro, NC, Megan Kirsten (Michael Thompson), Nicole Kirsten, Katlyn (Matthew) Dittmer, Gary Kirsten (Brittany Sheehan) and Alexandra Kirsten, all of Schenectady; siblings Kathryn O'Toole of Keansburg, NJ, Stephen Kirsten of Ohio, Kevin Kirsten of New Jersey and Deborah Durr of Muncy, PA; grandchildren Madelyn, Justin, Sophia, Ava and Braden, and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
