Raymond Laning Jr.

Colonie – Raymond Laning Jr., 73, passed away Saturday March 15, 2014 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center. Born in Albany, he is the son of the late Raymond Laning Sr. and Kathryn (Bergbold) Laning .
Raymond was a 1958 Graduate of Colonie High School, and later attained his Bachelor's degree in History from Union College. He resided in Rochester most of his life where he worked as an insurance agent for Marsh McClellan Insurance. Raymond travelled extensively throughout Europe, with a particular affinity for Belgium, his beloved wife's birthplace. Raymond also held a passion for square dancing and was an avid reader.
Raymond was predeceased by his wife Freida (De Cuyper) Laning in 2013, after nearly 50 years of marriage. He was a dedicated and loving husband and caregiver to his cherished wife for over 20 years. Raymond was also predeceased by his brother Ronald L. Laning, in 2007.
Raymond is survived by his brother Robert L. Laning of Colonie, his brother-in-law Conrad (Lorraine) De Cuyper, and 8 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Raymond will be held Friday March 21st at 9:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday, March 20th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at Memory Gardens.
