Raymond Young

SCHENECTADY – Raymond Young, 80, passed away on Saturday, April 03, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Rotterdam, he was the son of the late William and Anna Young. Ray resided in the Schenectady and Rotterdam area for all of his life. He was a carpenter by trade and worked as a yard manager for the former Funston Lumber Company, from where he retired after 36 years of service. Ray is the beloved husband of nearly 57 years to Joan D. Young. He is the devoted father of Raymond M. (Gloria) Young of Portland, OR, and the cherished grandfather of Crystal, Melinda, Brian and Gina. He is the loving great-grandfather of Britney, Dakota, Austin, Taylor and Reese. Ray is the brother of Ruth Griesbeck, Evelyn LeGere and the late William, Robert, George, Edmund and Betty Young.
Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 11:0 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sts. Cyril & Method Cemetery, Rotterdam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of Raymond Young.
