SCHENECTADY- Regina M. Rutland, "Jean", aged 99, wife of Henry B. Rutland Junior (deceased), died peacefully in the early morning of February 24, 2022, in Columbus Ohio. Regina is the daughter of Michael L. Mangan Senior and Regina (Higgins), born in Buffalo, New York November 22, 1922.
Regina worked in the war effort polishing searchlights in 1943, chose to become a homemaker after the birth of her first child. During that time she volunteered in various capacities in school functions. She was an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist; brought the Eucharist to hospitalized Catholics who requested it, for a period of years. She sang in the choir at St. Clare's (probably in the nineteen eighties) and sang in concerts with the choir. Regina became a realtor in the nineteen eighties and worked with an affiliate of Century 21 in Schenectady as a realtor until she retired.
Regina is survived by her son Henry Rutland, his wife Cindy (Welsh); granddaughters: Rachel Rutland, Sarah Rutland and her husband Jamie Hall. She is predeceased by four nephews, James Mangan, Thomas Mangan, Thomas Doran and Daniel Doran; niece Marilyn Mangan. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and several great grand nieces and grand nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hour on Saturday March 26, 2022 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Saint Clare, 1947 Central Avenue, Colonie, NY 12205. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
