Rena Marlene Brady, 74, of Albany, NY passed away at her home on Saturday, May 22, 2021 with her family by her side.
Marlene, a woman of love, faith, and inspiration, was born on November 3, 1946 in Albany, NY. She was a wife, mother, and grandmother, and she also shaped the lives of countless generations of children and adults alike. The door to her house was always open and filled with warmth, good food, coffee, cards, laughs, storytelling, and so much more. Marlene exemplified love: she was straight to the point, never got tired, and was always ready to help anyone at any time.
Marlene was born to the late Leroy and Rena "Rita" Simmons of Albany, NY. On December 21, 1969 she married the late Frank J. Brady. They shared their lives together for over forty-five years, travelling from New York City to Albany, NY.
Marlene is survived by her three children: Holly Stefaniak, (Adam) of Albany; Joseph Brady, of Lake George; and Michael Brady (Tony Billups), of New York City as well as her two precious and amazing grand-daughters Samantha and Tara Brady and their loving mother Tracy, of Troy. Marlene is also survived by her lifelong best friend, Marion Landau, of Watervliet, NY, many cousins, and friends. She was an honorary mother and grandmother to many, with special love for the youngest of them Victor, Marcus, and Milano.
Marlene graduated from Colonie Central High School and early on became an entrepreneur - operating hair salons in Brooklyn and Albany. She later went on to study computer science at the College of St. Rose. Driven by a desire to serve and an unshakeable work ethic, Marlene defined public service for over thirty years during which time she served at the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services while also being a union delegate for CSEA. Marlene was a woman of faith, an elder at Bethany Reformed Church and a parishioner of the New Scotland Presbyterian Church.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 10:00am at the New Scotland Presbyterian Church, 2010 New Scotland Road, Slingerlands NY 12159. A celebration of Marlene's life will be held at 10:30am. Marlene will be interred next to her loving husband at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871 immediately following the service.
