ALBANY _Rev. William M. Cameron Jr., 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Cleveland Ohio, he was the son of the late William M Cameron Sr. and Winifred. William graduated from Hope College, Holland Michigan in 1957, New Brunswick Theological Seminary 1960, and State University of New York at Albany in 1981.
William answered the call to serve the Lord in 1960. He served faithfully at First Church in Albany from 1960 to 1981 and The First Reformed Church of College Point, NY from 1981 to 2000. In retirement he spread the Word on several cruises and ministered to retired Reformed Church members as a Senior Pastor.
His service extended to all of God's children. He was arrested in the 1960's during a civil rights protest, developed the Summer Drive-In Worship in 1973 to serve families with children and the elderly, and developed many community outreach programs in Queens still active today.
One of his great passions was golf. He proudly played St. Andrews in Scotland with his father, and took great joy in walking barefoot on the green. He shared this love and enjoyed many rounds with family and friends.
William's insatiable curiosity took him to all corners of the earth. Nancy and Bill cruised the world, explored Europe, enjoyed the East Coast beaches, and cross country road trips. Nancy and Bill wintered for several years in Myrtle Beach SC and cherished the community and treasured the friendships they made.
