Reyita Ruiz, 51, passed away on January 6, 2015 at Albany Medical Center with her family by her side.
She was born on December 29, 1963, in Patillas, Puerto Rico, to the late Luis and Celia (Alicea) Ruiz.
Reyita worked for over 25 years with New York State Tax and Finance department as a Tax Compliance Representative Supervisor - Spanish Language in Albany.
She was a member of the Million Women Drummer's Albany Branch; part of the Unity Church in Albany; also a member of the Heal Stompers of Albany Line Dancing group and loved to listen to music and was very passionate about dancing.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sister Francisca Ruiz.
Reyita is survived by her beloved son, Davis Ruiz; her loving partner, Samantha Ryan and her children; Providence and Edward Ryan; her dear friend, Mary Ann Lombardi; her sisters and brothers; Margarita (Juanito Rodriguez) Ruiz, Leonides (Ruben Montanez) Ruiz, Anilda (Moises Isaac) Ruiz, Luis (Lee Nichols) Ruiz, Catalina (Robert LaSalle) Ruiz and Cruz Ruiz. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Neil Hellman School 60 Academy Rd., Albany, NY 12208 or to the Pride Center of the Capital Region, PO Box 131, Albany, NY 12201 in Reyita's memory.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at 2:00 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 11:00 am. to 2:00 pm. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private at the families request.
