MENANDS - Rhea Nicpon of Menands entered into eternal life at her residence on Thursday, November 11, 2010 with her family at her side. Rhea was born in Troy and was the daughter of the late William and Lucy Cavanagh O'Neill. She was a resident of Menands for many years.
She was formerly employed by New York Telephone (Verizon) as an accountant. Rhea was a communicant of St. Joan of Arc Parish and served as President of St. Joan of Arc Altar Rosary Society and religious education teacher for the children. She also served as President of the Menands Veterans of Foreign Wars and Treasurer of the PTA for Menands School for several years.
Rhea is survived by her husband of 54 years, Joseph Nicpon; two loving daughters Gerrie Sylofski and her husband Edward of Melbourne, FL., and Darlene Maloney and her late husband Joseph Maloney of Latham, NY; six grandchildren, Michael Sylofski (Dawn) of Gansevoort, NY, David. Sylofski (Carla) of New York City, Stephen Sylofski of Brooklyn, NY, Diane Sylofski of Omaha, NE, Joseph Maloney, Jr., and Kevin Maloney of Latham, NY; and great-grandchildren Maegan Belle Sylofski and Charles Lorenzo Sylofski. She was the cherished aunt of Jean Reilly (Ed) of Niskayuna and several other nieces and nephews.
Rhea was sister to the late William O'Neill, Marjorie Mallery, Gertrude Sayers and Frances Pullar.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 8:00 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie then to St. Joan of Arc Church, Menands at 9:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 to 6 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
