Rhoda Curley Palmieri

February 18, 1943 — June 23, 2020

Rhoda Curley Palmieri- 77 of Latham, NY passed away peacefully on June 23, 2020.

She was born on February 18, 1943 in Newark Ohio, to the late David and Rhoda Curley of Albany, NY.

Rhoda is survived by her beloved daughter, Jamie Elizabeth Curley Palmieri, and her son-in-law Glen Zimmerman, of Latham, NY.

She was married to the late Fedele (Del) Louis Palmieri. He held multiple degrees and was a graduate from RPI in Aeronautical Engineering. He was a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Del suffered an untimely death at the age of 47, when Rhoda was 43, and their daughter was 8.

Rhoda was a 1964 graduate of St. Rose College in Albany, NY, attended NYU, and Skidmore College. She loved learning, and staying ahead of the curve in everything she did. She was selected to appear in the 1963-64 edition of Who's Who Among Students In American Universities and Colleges. She was also a member of the Professional Photographers Association and the International Association of Fine Art Digital Printmakers.

Throughout Rhoda's professional life she was a graphic designer, typographer, book designer, writer, business owner, printer, and an avid photographer, having been named as the official photographer to the Albany/Saratoga Chapter of the NFL Alumni and NFL charity "Caring for Kids". She was also a Development Director for the NPR Station WAMC in Albany NY.

In her spare time, besides spending time with family, she loved the arts especially traveling to watch Broadway shows in NYC and at Proctors. She passionately listened to opera, attended art gallery showings, and even showcased her own Iris Giclee Fine Art Prints.

Rhoda's life and personality were eclectic. She was intelligent, witty, and a futuristic thinker. She read Russian, loved babies, had a dramatic and colorful flare, was a good friend often sending thoughtful presents for no reason, and even earned her small plane pilot's license as a young woman. She also adored her "one and only dog" Jack. They are finally together again.

She also leaves behind two sisters, Rhoneda (Ralph) Maury, of Charlotte NC, and Rhonda (Lindsay) Childs of Midlothian VA; as well as 6 nieces and nephews, Brande "BB" Hoffman (Kurt, James, Maddox, & Iris Hoffman) of North Palm Beach, FL, David Maury (Nicole, Talan & Lila Maury) of Philadelphia, PA, Brooke Maury Carter (Phil, Ralph, Kingston, & Bodhi Carter) of Charlotte, NC, Nathan Childs (Dawn, Adam, & Benjamin Childs) of Richmond, VA, Ashley Childs Mann (David & Eliza Mann) of Richmond, VA, and Justin Childs (Libby & Tristan Childs) of Bedford, NH.

In addition to her family, Rhoda is survived by her life long best friend and college roommate Carol Jankunas of Fort Collins, CO.

The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Fresenius Kidney Care, Latham, NY, especially Cathy Marchese, Jay Cayabyab, and Sarah Glover for their compassion and friendship.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY.
