Rhona M. Lanigan, 75, of Rotterdam, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 with her loving family by her side.
She was the daughter of the late Stephen Cooper and Agnes (Marsh) Cooper, and was the devoted wife to James D. Lanigan, they were married 59 years.
Rhona received her education from Maria College were she earned her degree in nursing and became an R.N. She was a cardiac nurse at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, she was also a rehabilitation nurse at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Center.
She was a volunteer of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, a religious education teacher at Our Lady Queen of Peace and a communicant of St. John the Evangelist in Schenectady.
Rhona enjoyed spending time with her entire family, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, James D. Lanigan, her children: Ann (Michael) O'Connor, John (Lisa) Lanigan, Maura (David) Walton, James Lanigan, Siobhan (Andrew) Hill; her grandchildren: Stephanie, Meghan, Briana, David, Patrick, Kristen, Jennifer, Daniel, Grace and Nicholas; and her great-grandchildren; Cullen, Noelle and Gavin. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, on Thursday May 25, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held Friday May 26, 2017 at 1 p.m. from St. John the Evangelist, 806 Union St, Schenectady, where the mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.
Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dunnsville Rd, Rotterdam.
