Rhunette Allen

December 4, 1920 — March 16, 2015

Rhunette Allen, 94, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2015 at Ellis Hospital with her family by her side.

She was born on December 4, 1920, in Alcholu, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Irvin and Elease (Rhems) Sharpe.

She was a resident of Schenectady for almost 60 years.

She worked for NYS Research foundation as a Payroll Clerk for over 30 years.

She loved to garden, and spend time with her family and friends.

She was a member an active member of the Schenectady Silhouettes for many years.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband, Arthur Allen; her son, Edward Bates and daughter Sharon Bates; four brother and two sisters.

Rhunette is survived by her children, Barbara O'Neal, Arthur A. Allen; her beloved grandchildren, Lisa Modest, Adam Bates, LiTisa Ross and Sammie Thompson; great grandson, Cameron Colbert; her sister-in-law Earlene Tanner and brother-in-law Joseph Allen, son-in-law, Clarence O'Neal, she also survived by a host of family and friends.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York 4 Pine West Plaza Albany, NY 12205, in Rhunette's memory.

Funeral Service will be on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Duryee Memorial AME Zion Church, 311 Hulett Street, Schenectady.
Visitation will precede the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am to at the church. Interment will follow the service in Evergreen Memorial Park, Schenectady.
