NISKAYUNA, NY – Richard A. Folmsbee, 69, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2010, after a short illness. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Harold and Josephine Folmsbee. Richard was a 1958 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran. Richard worked in insurance for over 40 years and had his own Allstate Office in Scotia. He was Town Justice for 12 years in the town of Princetown. Richard was a member of the Plotterkill Volunteer Fire Dept., the Rotterdam Fire Chiefs Association, where he was one of the founders of the Rotterdam Fire Training Center and past chief of Pattersonville Volunteer Fire Dept. On June 20th, 1969, while listening to the Apollo 11 moon landing, Richard responded to a call for a boat taking on water with a father and son on Lake George. He received a citizen's award from the Lake George Park Commission for saving the life of the father and son. What Richard enjoyed most was spending time with his family. He loved sailing on Lake Champlain, hunting, camping, and spending time in the Adirondacks. Richard is the loving husband of 47 years to Ruth L. Folmsbee. He is the devoted father of Richard A. (Laurie) Folmsbee and the devoted brother of Harold Folmsbee.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Princetown, NY.
