Schenectady~ Richard "Dick" Audette, 74, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Saturday, December 11, 2021, at his home in Colonie, NY, surrounded by his wife and loving family.
Dick was born on January 16, 1947, to the late Armand and Rolande Audette in Winooski, VT. He served in the United States Navy from July 1965 to July 1967, receiving the Vietnam Service Medal and National Defense Medal for his services during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he lived in different parts of the New England area before finally settling in Colonie, NY in 1979.
In 1983, he started his own company, CSC Enterprises (now known as Critical Services Co., Inc.), providing biomedical engineering services in the private sector. He retired in 2010, leaving the business in the capable hands of his friend and partner Dean Pilon and his son Sean Audette.
Dick was an avid golfer and one of the original members of the Orchard Creek Golf Club, along with his best friend Kenny Farrar and several other close buddies. He was a member of the Maqua Golf League at Schenectady Municipal Golf Course before joining the OC Duffers at Orchard Creek in Altamont, NY.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by Elaine, his wife of over 51 years; his children Cassie Gleason of Schenectady, NY, Sean Audette (Cyndi Lamacchia) of Colonie, NY, and Cameron Audette (Andrea) of Scotia, NY; his grandchildren Taylor Audette, Veronica Audette, Donald Gleason III, Ariana Audette, and Belle Audette; and his brother Raymond Audette (Renee) of Ocean Isle Beach, NC and sister Christine Audette (Hans Leenhouts) of Hendersonville, NC.
He was loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Calling hours will be on Friday, December 17, 2021, from 4 - 7 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, NY 12205. Interment will be on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 12:30 pm at Memory Gardens, 983 Watervliet-Shaker Rd, Colonie, NY 12205. Friends and family may gather for the procession at the funeral home at 12:00.
