COLONIE – Richard C. Sysol, 66, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2012 after a brief illness. Born in Dunkirk, NY, he is the son of Celia A. Sysol and the late Casimer R. Sysol. Rich was a graduate of Siena College and worked as an accountant for the Watervliet Arsenal until his retirement. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving his country from 1966 through 1968. Rich was most happy spending time outdoors, especially when he was fishing and hunting. He was a former member of the Polish Community Center for many years.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his daughter, Holly Somerville. He is the grandfather of Jackson, Aeden, Benjamen and Leo Somerville and the late Caleb Somerville. Rich is the brother of Sandra J. (the late Frank) Sidoti. Also surviving is his niece, Lisa (Kevin) DeForge and their children, Ryan, Emily and Katelyn who he cherished dearly. Rich is the loving son-in-law of Mildred (the late Wilfred) St. Onge. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Bonnie Lee Sysol in 2011.
Funeral services will be Friday at 6:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of Richard C. Sysol.
