COLONIE, NY – Richard D. Nerbonne passed away on Monday, November 22, 2010, while visiting his daughter in Colorado. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of New England College. Richard spent most of his career as a manager and arbitrator in commercial insurance, and later as an administrator of a workers' comp center, and more recently, with the N.Y.S. Department of Motor Vehicle until his retirement. After his retirement, Richard served as a logistics officer in the New York Army National Guard and as an Ambassador at the Albany International Airport. He was a football coach for the Colonie Pop Warner Football League during the 1960's, a trustee in the Village of Colonie in the 1970's,a member of the Colonie Elks, American Legion Zaloga Post, the V.F.W. and a committee member for the Colonie Democrats. Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia (Tobin) Nerbonne and his sons, John and Steve Nerbonne. Richard is survived by his devoted daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Pat Gage of Aurora, CO and his very special niece, Karen (Ed) Zalewski-Wildzunas. Also surviving are his nieces, Barbara (Ray) Kappes, Lori Leonard and Paula VanDerVeer as well as many grand-nieces and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville.
