COLONIE – Richard David Kieper, Sr., 83, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Oswego, NY, he was the son of the late Clara and Harry Kieper, Sr.
Dick was a Colonie resident for 50 + years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was stationed on Governor's Island. Dick worked for Paulsen and Miron Lumber yards and for himself for 65 years. He was a member of the Turnpike Rod and Gun Club and the H.B. Kuhn Senior Center. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. Dick loved life.
Dick is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane; children Richard, Jr., of Albany, Suzanne of Albany, James and wife Jane of West Sand Lake, Kathleen and husband Paul of West Sand Lake, and Timothy and companion Jessie of Albany; siblings Fran, John, Betty, Harry, Jr., Tom and Carol; grandchildren Jaclyn, Stephanie, Marcella, Brianna, Jamie, T.J., Shelby and Nick, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 9:00 am at St. Clare's Church, 1947 Central Avenue, Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
