Richard "Dick Smith

March 25, 1935 — January 23, 2015

Richard Smith, 79 of Albany, entered into eternal rest Friday, January 23, 2015 after a long illness.

Richard was born and raised in Albany, NY, graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 1954, after which he entered into Military Service with the Marines and served his country from 1956 to 1959. He married in 1957 and devoted his life to his family. He worked for Armory Garage retiring in1999. Richard enjoyed his family gatherings, vacationing with family in New Hampshire, Florida, and South Carolina as well as a trip to Hawaii with his wife. He was avid reader and enjoyed going to baseball games and watching the Yankees on TV. He will be missed immensely by his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Marian Turmel Smith, and his five children, Jacquelyn Jensen ( Glenn Galloway), Michael (Cindy) Smith, Leslie ( Barry) Feinman, Victoria
(Jim) Hussey and Rick (Lisa) Smith.

Poppy will be missed by his fifteen cherished grandchildren, Brittney (Adam) Maring, Ashley Jensen, Benjamin, Erika & Samuel Feinman, Haley, Michael & Nicholas Smith, Micaela ( Evan) Whitis, Morgan, Shea, Shaun, Madison, Sidney & Alison OHair, and two great grandchildren, Annabel Maring and Bryson Whitis.

He was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and George Smith and a sister, AnnTerese DeJulio. He is survived by two brothers Tom (O'Rhea) Smith, Frank (Pat) Smith and a sister, Mary Pat (Mike) Smith and a Sister-in-Law, Mary Smith.

There will be no calling hours. A private service for the family will be held at New Comer Canon Funeral Home on New Karner Road, 10:00 am to celebrate Richard's life. Internment following the service will be at The Gerald B Solomon National Cemetery in Saratoga. In lieu of Food or Flowers contributions should be made to Hospice of New Karner (445 New Karner Road
