ROTTERDAM – Richard E. Breitenstein, 73, of Sherman Street, passed away on July 7, 2005 after a long illness.
Richard was born on May 22, 1932 in Schenectady and was the son of the late Oscar and Margaret Cleiss Breitenstein. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School.
Richard served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked as a warehouse supervisor for Northern Distributor's Inc. in Clifton Park for many years before retiring in 1994. He was an avid golfer and sportsman and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren as well.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary D. (Cerniglia) Breitenstein of Rotterdam; his children, Richard E. Breitenstein of Rotterdam and Kathy R. (Joseph) Lito of Latham. He is the loving Papa to Tarah and Tasha Breitenstein of Rotterdam and Joseph Paul Lito Jr. of Latham and great grandfather to Gianna Lynn Stone of Rotterdam. He is the brother of Oscar (Joan) Breitenstein of Broadalbin, Eugene (Charlene) Breitenstein of Charleton, Barbara (Richard) Putnam of Rotterdam, Margaret Maetta of Schenectady and Arlene (Len) Mac of Rotterdam. He is also survived by several aunts, cousins, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert J. Breitenstein.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will be held 2 hours prior to the service from 9 to 11a.m. Interment Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
