VOORHEESVILLE – Richard F. McCurdy "Dick", 76, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2007 at St. Peter's Hospital.
Richard was born on February 17, 1931 in Hagerstown, MD and was the son of the late Alexander F and Elizabeth (Folts) McCurdy. He served in the US Marine Corps attaining the rank of Private First Class. He was also a recipient of the Purple Heart. He worked for the NYS Office of General Services before retiring in 1996.
Richard was a lifetime member of the Voorheesville Fire Department, a member of the American Legion Post #1493 and St. Boniface Episcopal Church. He enjoyed reading, walking and working in his yard. He also volunteered at the Guilderland Food Pantry.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Fredericka A. (McKeown) McCurdy; his son, Douglas A. McCurdy of Voorheesville; his daughter, Colleen M. (Steven) Scott of Durham, NC and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Boniface Episcopal Church in Guilderland. There will be no calling hours.
At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to St. Boniface Episcopal Church Building Fund, 5148 Western Turnpike, Guilderland, NY 12084 or Voorheesville Fire Department, School Road, Voorheesville, NY 12186 in memory of Richard.
