COLONIE – Richard Arthur Fish, Sr., entered into eternal life on Sunday, September 24, 2006 at the age of 72. Born in Staten Island, NY to Robert A. and Laura (Brown) Fish, Richard was a celebrated family man, friend and member of the community. A Marine Corp. veteran of the Korean War, Richard served in the Albany Police Dept. and more recently, the Albany Fire Dept. from which he took disability retirement after fifteen years of service. He was also a founding member and vice president of the A.P.P.F.A. Local 2007 Albany Fire Dept. and a past social member of the Fuller Road Fire Dept. After retirement, Richard volunteered as a manager and announcer for Westland Hills Little League and served as commissioner and announcer for Colonie Pop Warner. An avid football fan and supporter of his sons' athletic careers, Richard was a dedicated fan of Bishop Maginn and Colonie High School football, as well as Marist and Siena College football, where his sons competed. Richard had a large family that he loved very much. He is the beloved husband of Ann M. (Furness) Fish and devoted father to Michele Fish-Albert, Richard A. Fish, Jr., Robert A. (Hillary) Fish, Regina (Steve) Baker and Carmella, Anita and Rocco Fish. He was also a loving grandpa (Pa) to Joseph F. and Robert A. Albert, as well as to Madisyn A. and Brittany D. Fish. Richard was the brother of Bill (Maggie) Fish and Raymond (the late Pat) Fish, as well as the late Robert, Frank, Ben, Marie and Joe Fish. He was also a brother-in-law to Jeanne Fish, Jean and Bill Krell and Cathi and Mike Romano. Additionally, Richard had numerous nieces and nephews, as well as countless loving friends, all of who cared deeply for him and appreciated his humor, kindness and generosity. He was a wonderful man who will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. The family wished to thank Dr. Gort as well as the nurses and staff at St. Peter's Hospital I.C.U.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 9:30 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:30 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
