Richard G. Bender, Sr.

COLONIE-Richard G. Bender, Sr., 83 passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Evergreen Commons. He was born in Albany, NY the son of the late Henry and Irene Bender. Richard served in the National Guard during the late 1950's. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed trout fishing, hunting and camping.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Joyce (Miller) Bender; his loving children Elaine Silvernail (David), Richard Bender, Jr. (Laurie) and Raymond Bender (Kathy) and by his cherished grandchildren Carli Rae Bender, Tori Bender, David O'Brien and Sean O'Brien.
In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother Ronald Bender.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, October 3, 2014 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie.
A funeral service will be held at 9 AM on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave. Menands, NY 12204 in memory of Richard.
