ROTTERDAM JUNCTION – Richard H. Steenburgh, 84, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, with his loving family by his side. Born and raised in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Floyd and Cora Steenburgh. Dick resided in Rotterdam Junction since 1950. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country during World War II. Dick worked for Amsterdam Printing & Litho retiring after 44 years of service. He was a former volunteer firefighter with the Rotterdam Junction Volunteer Fire Dept. Dick was a talented carpenter who enjoyed building and repairing. He enjoyed spending time with his family at his summer home on Galway Lake. Dick was an avid dog lover. He was the devoted husband of 64 years to Frances R. Steenburgh until her passing. Dick is the devoted father of James R. Steenburgh of Guilderland, Sharyn R. (Charles) Becker of Scotia and Don "Craig" (Barbara) Steenburgh of Rotterdam Junction. He is the cherished grandfather of James and Jeffrey Steenburgh, David and Katrina Saddlemire, Danielle Becker, Kelly Wydronkowski and Rachel Steenburgh. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by his sister, Jeanne Buhrmaster and his brother, Robert Steenburgh.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Scotia, 132 Mohawk Ave., Scotia, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302 in memory of Richard H. Steenburgh.
