Paczkowski, Richard Henry
GUILDERLAND--Richard Henry Paczkowski, loving father and caring husband, died on Monday, February 9, 2015 at St. Peter's Hospital Hospice Inn. Rich coped with cancer the way he lived life, with poise, an eye towards the future, and the utmost concern for his family.
Rich was born in New Britain, CT, to the late Stella and Henry Paczkowski. Following his graduation from Newington High School, Rich earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and completed the course work for a PhD. Prior to his retirement, Rich worked as a Manager of Human Resources for General Electric in Schenectady, NY.
Rich lived in Guilderland, NY with his wife Margaretann. As a husband Rich took pride in providing for and supporting his wife and family. Rich loved being a father, and would often stay up all night on Christmas Eve assembling toys for his two children. He planned family vacations with a practiced eye for elegance and quality, and was particularly fond of the ocean and Cape Cod.
Rich made every day and every visit an occasion to celebrate. Rich could often be found celebrating life's moments, large and small, with his family at the Barnsider, continuing a tradition he shared with his grandfather. For friends, family, and pets alike, visits to the Paczkowski home were never without festivities, gifts, and merriment.
In his youth, Rich was an avid tennis and racquetball player. In recent years, he took an interest in gardening where geraniums and rhododendrons were his favorite varieties.
A subtle, thoughtful, and generous man, everything Rich did, he did well.
Rich is survived by his beloved wife and friend, Margaretann, his son Michael, of Guilderland, and his daughter, Dr. Karen Paczkowski, and son-in-law, Christopher Thissen, of Washington, D.C.
Friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on February 28, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Madeleine Sophie Church. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 27, from 4-7 p.m. at the New Comer Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Rich can be made to the Christ Child Society, at P.O. Box 423, Guilderland Center, NY 12085
