Richard J. Carey

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Richard J. Carey, 64, of Loudonville, died April 19, 2008 at Albany Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany, Richard served in the U.S. Coast Guard. After his discharge, he worked at General Steel as a foreman and later at Home & City Savings Bank until purchasing his own business, Allied Business Equipment which he ran until 2003. Dick was most recently employed at Samaritan Hospital. Dick was a meticulous gardener who enjoyed ending a nice summer day with a beer on the deck. He looked forward to early morning walks with the family dog. His weekends were devoted to family, and in particular, his beloved granddaughter whom he idolized. Dick is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 42 years, Anne Marie Cerone Carey; his two sons, Scott (Catherine) Carey of Colonie and Todd Carey of Loudonville; his precious granddaughter, Laura Anne Carey. Also surviving are his parents, John and Winona Carey of Clifton Park; six brothers, John (Anne) Carey of FL, Robert (Judy) Carey of FL, Paul (Karen) Carey of Cohoes, Peter Carey of Cohoes, Marc (Sheila) Carey of Albany, Andrew (Lana) Carey of Albany and one sister, Wendy Quinn of GA. He is the brother-in-law of Dave Carhart of Latham. Dick was predeceased by his sister, Lynn Carhart.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 10:00 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of Richard J. Carey.
