COLONIE – Richard J. Dragon, 94, of Colonie, passed away on Wednesday August 4, 2010 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center after a long illness.
He was born in Sciota, NY and was the son of the late Richard J. and Mettie Dragon. Richard served in the Civilian Conservation Corp as a young man. He had worked Albany International Corp for 38 years, retiring several years ago. He enjoyed fishing and camping at Lake Champlain. He was a member of the Schenectady Senior Citizens. Richard favorite pastime was to be with his family and his cherished grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Evelyn Brown Dragon. He is the devoted father of Marvin Dragon, Wayne (Elaine) Dragon and the late Millard Lawrence Dragon. He is the brother of Ruby Matott, Lillian Alger and the late Ruth Garrand, Russell. Elrick and Hillard Dragon. He is the grandfather of Christopher (Michelle),Lisa (Gary) Prye, David, Michael (Alea), Jeffrey (Amiee), Scott (Michelle), Michelle (Ralph) Barone, Wayne Jr. (Karen) and Diane (Matthew ) Sypniewski. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 8:15 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie then to Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, at 9:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 6 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Chazy, NY.
