Richard J. Geisel, Jr.

GUILDERLAND-Richard J. Geisel, Jr., 77, of Guilderland, passed away on Wednesday October 8, 2008 at the Inn of Community Hospice after a long illness.
He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Richard J. Geisel Sr. and Helen Kirby. Dick served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War. He was a plumber with Local #7 Plumbers and Steamfitters in Albany for fifty five years. Dick was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and gardening. He was a Life Member of Westmere Fire Department and a member of Captain William Dale O'Brien USMC Detachment Unit.
He was most proud of his loving family. Dick is the beloved husband of 54 years to Josephine F. Geisel. He is the devoted father of Richard J. Geisel III (Leslie), Howard B. Geisel and Dawn Geisel Szary (David). He is the brother of Donald Geisel and the late Charles and John Geisel. He is the cherished grandfather of Kourtney Szary and Alexis Geisel. Special thanks to his loyal friend, Dick Pangburn and his dedicated physician, Dr. Jose David.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 9:30 at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd.Colonie (Rt.155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
