Richard Johnson

April 16, 1955 — January 9, 2015

Albany -Richard Johnson, 59, entered into eternal rest on January 9th, 2015 at the Stratton V.A. Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born April 16, 1955 in Johnstown, PA, to the late Mary and Joseph Johnson.

Mr. Johnson relocated to Albany, NY when he was a youth. He attended Albany Public Schools and is a graduate of the College of St. Rose.
Richard served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a former employee of N.Y.S Office of Temporary Disabilities. He worked as a chef at several restaurants in Albany. He was an ESL tutor. Richard also volunteered at the Albany City Mission amongst various other shelters around the city.

Richard leaves to cherish his memory four children; Richard L. Johnson, Katrina F. Johnson, Richard (Ricky) Johnson all of Albany, NY and Any- Jeree Thomas of Chatham, NY; two grandchildren, Hazeeon Johnson and Brycen Brown; one sister Patricia Johnson of Albany and one brother Samuel (Earlene) Cade of Johnstown, PA. Richard is also survived by a host of relatives and friends.
Richard was predeceased by five brothers: Jessie, Perlie & Leroy Cade, Robert Johnson and James Thompson & his Stepfather Ralph Johnson

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the VA Medical Center for all their care and comfort given to Richard and his family.

A service will be held on Saturday, January 17th, 2015 at the Star of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 513 Clinton Avenue, Albany, NY.

Calling hours will be held from 9:30am- 11:30am with a funeral service being held at 11:30am. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
